Some people on LinkedIn will tell you that AI adoption starts with a set of tools and ends with “here are 7 prompts that will help you eliminate your entire Marketing team”. However, those who have an extensive body of work in AI adoption strategy will not dish out this kind of narrative.

When an individual decides to buy an AI tool, he has Rs. 399/month at stake. On the other hand, when the CMO of a large enterprise decides to invest in enterprise-level AI adoption, millions of dollars are at stake. As a bonus, his reputation within the organization and throughout the industry are at stake too.

While working with CMOs, my approach is centred about the impact of AI adoption on every facet of the MOM - Marketing Operating Model.

At the core of the MOM lies the business vision. At its periphery lies the external partner ecosystem i.e. digital agencies, tech partners, data partners, etc.

These are the other key facets of the MOM:

  • Technology Stack

  • Data Strategy

  • Tech, Data and Brand Governance

  • Skill Readiness

  • Digital/Non-digital DNA, Culture & Adaptability to Change

  • Organization, Roles & Evolution

A detailed analysis of the impact of AI adoption on the above-mentioned elements of the MOM is conducted.

An important aspect of this analysis is financial feasibility – in simple terms, we check whether investing in tech will drive enough revenue and save enough cost to justify the time, effort and money that would go into adoption. This feasibility study is critical and eventually becomes the key factor used by the leadership of large organization to decide whether AI adoption is worth it or not.
